Did your leather collect dust?

When leather sits dormant for a long time, it tends to gather dust.  This dust can get into the creases of the leather, and can cause unsightly spots.  Since leather is so porous, it can hold onto this dust and can be difficult to get out.  To freshen up the look of your leather, you can use Leather-Clean to provide a much needed wash to any type of leather that may have collected dust.

Does your leather smell stale?

Since leather is made of animal skin, it can be very porous. This means that leather has a tendency to soak up scents and smells that it comes into contact with.  This means that if your leather jacket had some stinks or bad smells in it when you put it away, it may come out smelling not-so-fresh.  Your leather also may smell stale, since it’s been in storage all summer.  Leather-Clean, when used as directed, will extract bad smells, neutralize any odors, and will leave your leather jacket smelling fresh and looking great.  It’s great to provide a much needed freshening up to your leather jacket.

Wearing leather is a fashion statement.  It’s a timeless, classic look.  Treat your leather jacket right, and it will always treat you right.  Give Leather-Clean a try today to freshen up your leather.

Leather-Clean at Sturgis Rally 2015

The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is the largest gathering of bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts in the world, held in Sturgis, South Dakota.  And this year marks the 75th Anniversary of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.  You know what that means?  Lots of bikers, and lots of leather (lots of leather that needs cleaning, that is…)

Welcome to Sturgis.

The Leather-Clean team decided to go stop in on Sturgis this year.  Both Chris and Nick came to Sturgis this year to come and talk to the bikers about their leather.  Our message: you can finally wash your leather!

Chris at the Sturgis Rally.

Of course, there are quite a few bikers out there who like their leather nice and dirty.  For example, our friend here, he liked just the way his leather shirt looked, smelt, and felt (even though it was pretty dirty!).

We went all over Main Street in Sturgis today, and met a whole bunch of people who were interested in how they could clean their leather.  Traditionally they have used creams and lotions to condition their leather – and that’s great!  But they had never actually washed their leather to clean it.  When we told them they could wash it, they were excited!  We handed out free samples and made friends along the way.  We are looking forward to hearing and seeing their results.  Here are a couple pictures of Sturgis for your enjoyment:

A 5 Star Leather Clean Review!

Kris from the UK ordered 5 bottles of the Leather Clean solution in an attempt to clean his vintage Leather Jackets.  We gladly shipped him the Leather Clean solution he needed, and he used it.  Below is his review.

Dear Leather Clean team:
I am giving five stars to the Leather Clean product.
I bought a vintage leather jacket a few months ago. It contained strong musty smells, and I just really wanted to remove those smells. I searched on the internet but major products just provide leather conditioner or surface cleaner, none of them gives the deep clean including lining and removing stale smells. I also checked dry cleaning shops but their prices were very different, and I worried that cheap dry cleaning might relate to low-quality services….
Fortunately, I found the Leather Clean product to wash leather garments in water and deep clean inside. To be honest, I doubted the product when I first saw it, but I did many searches for the product and read all information on the website. They provide very professional and detailed instructions for the products and finally convinced me to have a try of it.
The product arrived with a careful package. I immediately tried it with my vintage jacket. During the washing process, I could see some effects of degrease and decolonization but it did not affect the appearance of the jacket. After washing, I felt the jacket was just like finishing a bath with a refreshed condition. It removed over 70% vintage smells, and the lining still contains its color. I allowed the jacket to dry for a few days.  To help remove the rest of the smells, I left my jacket inside out under sunlight and then applied leather balsam. Finally, my leather jacket looks like a new and smells great!
I appreciate the Leather Clean team and this professional technology for leather washing. I am very satisfied with this outcome and I look forward to trying more leather washes with Leather Clean. I strongly promote this product with a confident review. Please feel safe to wash your leather following the instructions.  You will be surprised with these results!!
Please see the attached images. Do you believe this jacket is over 50 years old? I can still wear it and it is fresh! Yes, the Leather Clean made this dream come true! Thank you Leather Clean!

How to Clean a Leather Belt

I bought my first leather belt when I was 16 and I’ve used it ever since.  I love my leather belt because it has lasted this long without any problems and it still looks amazing.  Over the years it has naturally become more dirty – a spill here, some scratches there.  It literally has huge scrape marks on the leather and the buckle from back in my junior year of college, when I embarrassedly wrecked my bicycle in a parking lot (I kind of wish I had a video of it).  Needless to say, my belt has been through a lot, just like yours and now it’s time to learn how to clean a leather belt.

Leather Clean can be applied in a variety of ways for cleaning a leather belt.  The ingredients of Leather Clean allow for a powerful professional cleaning of leather without ruining or shrinking the leather.  The softeners within Leather Clean act to soften the leather, while the extracts and liquid nature of the cleaner take away and replace any stinky or foul smells that once were there.

The most effective way to clean your dirty leather belt is to wash it with leather-clean mixed in a container of water following the Leather-Clean instructions.

My Leather Handbag Smells like Fish

My Leather Handbag Smells like Fish! HELP!

The Leather Clean solution is safe to wash your leather.

The Leather Clean solution is safe to wash your leather.

Did you buy a nice leather handbag, only to realize that the leather has started to emit a fishy smell?  The first thing people want to know is if it’s possible to fix.  The answer is: Yes! It is possible to fix.  We’re going to show you a quick and effective way to get rid of that rotten fish smell.

The first thing to know is where the smell comes from.  When leather is manufactured and  treated, there are different oils used in the process.  These oils help the leather stretch during the constructive process of the leather bag.  It also treats the leather, helping it stay strong, while also softening leather that has gotten tough.  These oils range in type, from animal, vegetable, and fish oils.  When the oils in your leather start to break down chemically, they release those smells that we don’t always like.  If your leather handbag smells like fish, there’s only one way to clean it.

How to Get Rid of the Fish Smell in Leather

If your leather handbag smells like fish, don’t despair.  There are DIY answers available on the internet that involve vinegar, charcoal, baking soda, newspaper, and other things you’d find around your house in order to mask or absorb the smell.  We’ve found that these ways to fix the fish smell in leather are hit and miss – sometimes vinegar and baking soda all over your leather handbag can be more of a headache than the actual fish smell.

Fish smells in leather require a strong solution in order to solve it.  At the same time, it requires something that is not going to damage the leather.  The fish oils that are causing your fishy smell come were put into the leather in order to keep it soft and supple.  It’s important than any way you try and fix your fish smell in a leather bag, you make sure you protect the leather and don’t do something that will leave you with dry, cracked leather.  Harsh soaps and chemicals may get rid of the fish smell, but they will end up stripping all oils from the leather, leaving it dry and cracked.  To clean that fish smell, we recommend Leather Clean.

It might be a bigger leather bag, but if it smells like fish, let's give it a bath with Leather Clean.

Wash that Fish Smell Away

Leather Clean is a liquid detergent that you mix with water, in order to wipe down or even wash your leather handbag that smells like fish.  It’s safe for your leather, and when mixed with water, allows you to fully submerge your handbag, and give it it a bath in order to wash that fish smell right away.  It contains antibacterial agents, moisturizers, cleansers, and fresheners which leaves behind a fresh smell after washing.  It will keep the leather of your handbag safe, while penetrating the leather in order to wash away those nasty fish smells.

In addition to cleaning the fish smell out of your leather handbag, using Leather Clean will allow you to clean the inside liner of the leather handbag you’re trying to clean.  Often the inside lining of your bag will absorb whatever smell the bag has.  Leather Clean allows you to wash your bag, giving it a thorough cleaning inside and out.

How To Clean Brown Leather Shoes

The wearing of leather shoes is a fashion statement.   This especially holds true for brown leather shoes.  Whether with a blazer and a pair of jeans, or a crisp three piece suit, a nice pair of brown leather shoes will add style and class to what you are wearing.  But how do you clean brown leather shoes?  We’ll show you how to clean brown leather shoes.

Leather shoes get dirty. There are many ways to clean brown leather shoes.   There are creams and sprays that can clean them, but nothing provides a deep, deep clean. Often times with brown leather shoes it’s not so much that the outside looks bad, unless of course you step in mud.  The problem often arises from the inside beginning to stink, and bacteria beginning to grow.  From this comes the unfortunate stink of smelly shoes.  And that’s the last thing you want to have happen with your nice brown leather shoes.

You can wash your brown leather shoes - whether they get dirty on the inside OR outside. What’s Causing the Problem?

Dirt and bacteria get stuck in the seams of the shoe, and over time, that nice pair of leather shoes that you bought as an investment begin to look less and less appealing.  It would be very beneficial to have something that is able to clean inside and between the seams of the shoe – really cleaning leather shoes.

In order to get between the seams of a shoe and clean it thoroughly, you need something small enough to get in there, powerful enough to take care of the problem, yet sensitive enough not to damage the leather.  It can often be a difficult predicament.  Internet searches sometimes claim freezing your shoe, or putting in the oven – may we suggest against that?  The molecular makeup of the leather may not be recoverable if it goes through such trauma.

A Special Shampoo For Your Shoe

Our shoes are special to us, and your shoes are special to you.  For that reason, we present Leather Clean.  Leather-clean is a liquid detergent that gets inside the seams of the shoe, eliminates bacteria, and actually soothes leather.  Made from all natural cleaners, softeners and coconut and lavender extracts, it provides exactly what is needed in order for your shoes to get as clean as you need them to be.

In addition, Leather Clean is in a liquid form – this varies from other solid cleaners on the market.  The liquid advantage of Leather Clean is that it can penetrate into the seams of a shoe, and neutralize any smell and loosen any dirt that snuck into any crack or seam of the shoe.  Other cleaners usually find themselves getting stuck in the seams, or only reaching the surface.  Using Leather Clean in the directed way will help you avoid this problem, and get a deep clean for your brown leather shoes.

How To Clean Leather Sperrys

Boat Shoes, especially leather Sperrys, are a icon of American fashion.  They are perfect shoes to put on and relax with.  They give a relaxed and comfortable, yet classic and refined look to everyone who wears them.  But how do you clean your leather shoes when they get dirty?

Through the working hard and playing hard that Sperrys go through, they take a lot of abuse.  Despite the expensive price tag and authentic leather, Sperrys are often some of the most well-loved yet abused leather shoes that people own.  Despite the love of wearing Sperrys, many people fail to clean their Sperrys.  Due to this, Sperrys often become dirty and stink, resulting in them becoming the forgotten shoe at the bottom of the shoe pile. Even though it may look difficult, cleaning your leather Sperrys is far easier than you probably thought.

We washed these Sperrys, and it cleaned them in and out!

We washed these Sperrys, and it cleaned them in and out!

Sweet, Sweaty Sperrys

One of the main contributing factors to the stink of Sperry shoes is the unignorable fact that many people wear their Sperrys without socks!  It should also be noted that Sperrys are primarily a summer shoe, and that in the hot conditions of summer time, the feet sweat.  And knowing that there are 2 million sweat glands in your feet, the problem worsens exponentially.  Because authentic leather comes from animal hide, it has a natural tendency to soak up liquids that it comes in contact with, and maintain the odor and feel of whatever liquid it has absorbed.  This becomes a problem when that liquid is human sweat.

While sweat is often a sign of hard work (again, working hard and playing hard), the effects of sweat in a shoe can be catastrophic for both your shoe and your foot.  Sweat in and of itself is not the main offender in offensive odor.  The main offensive in odor lies with the bacteria that the sweat mixes with.  When sweat mixes with bacteria, the bacteria feeds on the sweat, and the excrement the bacteria secretes is what causes horrible odors.  And for those that work hard and play hard, that is something that you want to fix as soon as possible

How to Clean Leather Sperrys

Nearly every owner of a pair of Sperrys has suffered from this problem at some point in their Sperry owning lifetime.  Everyone has worn their Sperrys on a summer date, only to come back and become aware of the odor their feet and shoes were emitting.  Never to fear though – it is possible to clean your Sperrys in such a way that the fear of odor will diminish greatly.

Leather Clean was created as a safe and effective alternative to leather cleaning.  Traditional leather cleaners use harsh chemicals that are not safe for the environment, and endanger the integrity of the leather.  Leather Clean, on the other hand, works as a deep cleaning shampoo – and it does a great job at cleaning leather Sperrys.  The liquid nature of Leather Clean allows it to give a deep, penetrating clean to leather.  The result is a clean, fresh pair of Sperrys.

How Deep Will You Go?

To clean a pair of Sperrys, you must first decide how deep of a clean you would like.

  • If you would like a quick, 1 minute clean, then you can simply use Leather Clean as a spray to spritz 3-4 sprays to the inside of your shoes, and then wipe down with a rag.  Your feet, shoes, and girlfriend will thank you for taking the time to do this.
  • If you would like a slightly deeper clean, you may use Leather Clean as a liquid applicant, by wetting a rag and wiping down either the inside and/or outside of your shoes.  By doing this, you’ll be applying Leather Clean in a greater quantity, and thus experiencing more of the cleaning benefits of Leather Clean
  • If you would like the completely immersive cleaning experience of Leather Clean, you may use it to prepare a type of bubble bath for your shoes.  By mixing Leather Clean with the appropriate amount of water, you create a leather friendly environment for your shoes to experience a completely safe and super powerful clean.

Preserving Sperrys

Purchasing a pair of Sperrys is an investment.  They are built to last, and are built to keep up with you on your adventures.  With that said, here are a couple tips to preserve your Sperrys

If they get wet, let them dry completely.  Nothing is worse than mold growing in your shoe.  If that is the case, you can wash it completely out.

Don’t let them rest in direct sunlight.  Sunlight cracks leather, and is a sure way to dry out your leather sperrys.

Don’t Throw them Away!  People throw away shoes for a couple of reasons.  Here are the reasons, and how you can avoid them:

  • They rip.  This rarely happens with Sperrys though
  • They get stained.  Sperrys and their leather nature are rather easy to clean.
  • They stink too bad to wear.  With a cleaner like Leather Clean, this is an easy fix.
